5-21-20 CDC Guidance and Mini Pantries

Experts agree we are at the beginning of “all this.” On the one hand, there’s a lot we don’t know about SARS-CoV-2 and the illness it causes, COVID-19. On the other, we are learning.

Yesterday, the CDC revised its transmission guidance. The virus spreads easily between people, but not in other ways. In other words, “touching contaminated objects or surfaces does not appear to be a significant mode of transmission.”

Though this can provide a measure of comfort for those of us interacting with mini pantries, we aren’t off the hook when it comes to hand hygiene and routine cleaning. The virus does not degrade for a few hours, and as mentioned, there’s a lot we don’t know.
